Chapter Eleven

The streetlights were harsh and made Bo’s headache worse, but she found Tiffany standing around in the same spot she usually frequented. Tiffany saw her immediately. The look on her face told Bo she had been expected, and the open palm slap laid across her face told her she was late.

“I don’t mind sleeping with you, Bo, you know that. I never have. But I refuse to be used by someone who was high as a kite last night without so much as a hello. Especially when you promised you would never touch that shit again.” The tears rolling down her face, and the fact that she obviously didn’t mind them being out in the open, were a testament to how hurt she was. “And you know what the worst part is?” As she spoke, her voice cracked. “You didn’t just promise me. You promised Kelly, too. And—”

“And that’s a promise I would never break, Tiffany. They drugged me!” Bo tried to stop the rant, but Tiffany wouldn’t have it.

“And you think that gives you an excuse, Bo? You came here completely out of your mind, fucked me blind, and then left. How do you think that made me feel, Bo?”

Bo ran her hands down her face and shook her head. “There’s nothing I can do to make it right. I’m so sorry, Tiff. I was blasted and the only thing I could think of was—”

“Was getting off. I get it, Bo, I do. But why the hell did you come to me? Why didn’t you offer me an explanation?”

“I went to the club on duty and they spiked my drink, and then Cass Halliburton got me on the dance floor and…well. You’re my safe place, and I saw you at the club last week…” She faltered, not knowing how else to explain it.

“I get it. I was already on your mind.”

“That doesn’t make what I did right, but that’s what happened. And then I guess I was too ashamed to stick around because I ended up at home.”

“You’re a dick, you know that? You ended up at home because I drove you there after you almost passed out on top of me. I was too scared to let you drive yourself home.”

Bo stayed silent. It was true, and she was pissed at herself for the whole mess.

“God, I hate you sometimes. Why are you here now? Other than to apologize.”

“I still need to know what you were doing in the club that night, Tiff. I took advantage of you and that makes me far worse than Cass, but I have to do my job, too.”

Tiffany took a deep breath and gently laid her hand on Bo’s chest. “Are you okay? I’m sure it couldn’t have been easy for you, going through that again.”

Bo took her hand and held it there. “It wasn’t exactly a painful experience.”

Tiffany smiled and shook her head. “No, I’m sure it wasn’t. I can’t talk you out of this, can I? Even if I told you that it’s so much bigger than you think?”

Bo shook her head.
